ABOUT WATER FOR WHISKY

TREADING LIGHTLY TO SOURCE THE PERFECT PRODUCT

OUR INSPIRATION

The idea to create 126 Water came from friends in Asia and the USA, where enthusiastic whisky drinkers were seeking the perfect water to help them savour their favourite dram.

It’s a classic example of something that’s obvious when you see it… and if you want the best, you’ve got to go to the source."

Loch Ness Scotland

TODAY’S RAIN IS TOMORROW’S WATER FOR WHISKY

FROM THE HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND

THE SOURCE - LOCH NESS

Loch in Scotland means lake. Loch Ness is the largest loch in the UK and is in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland. Nestled between the mountains and great glens of Scotland, the soft water in Loch Ness has been filtered through the ancient rocks for over 400 million years. Unlike taking water from a spring, which tends to have high mineral content and liable to changing properties, the water in Loch Ness is consistent and extremely soft with extremely low mineral content. We carefully extract water in small batches, leaving no impact to the environment. Pairing your malt whisky with the purest water from Scotland is the perfect way to enjoy your dram. Scotland produces some of the best whisky in the world and is famous for its many whisky distilleries. At 126 Water, we are proud to be based in the Highlands of Scotland where we extract, filter, bottle and ship our beautiful, pure water to whisky lovers everywhere.

RESPONSIBLY EXTRACTED

THE PROCESS

The amount of water we’re allowed to extract from Loch Ness is strictly limited, so small batches are taken each time. The exact spot is a secret, though the early morning deer are used to the site of the man in the waders now. Each batch is micro-filtered and tested for purity by an external laboratory before being bottled, labelled and boxed in our local bottling plant, ready to be sent to bars, restaurants and shops around the world.
